Aylsa McHugh
Aylsa McHugh is a Melbourne based artist who works in a variety of media. Through her work she is interested in conveying the uncanny; the disturbing unfamiliarity of the evidently familiar.
Most recently she has been appropriating images found in magazines and books to create unsettling and elegant juxtapositions. These assemblages are compelling and perverse, disjointed and harmonious, a celebration of the grotesque and strangely beautiful.
She graduated with a BFA from the Victorian College of the Arts and her work is held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
